Engineering Solutions for High-Performance, People-Centered Spaces

We recognize the transformative power of place—how thoughtfully designed environments can uplift individuals and strengthen communities. As engineers, we are deeply committed to delivering solutions that prioritize occupant comfort, operational excellence, and long-term resilience, while ensuring our systems are both climate-responsive and carbon-conscious. Our approach is grounded in a holistic understanding of high-performance buildings—not only in terms of energy and emissions, but also in how they promote health, safety, and human dignity. Equity, community, and sustainability are core values that guide every project we undertake. With extensive experience delivering complex healthcare, institutional, and community-focused developments across Canada, we are well equipped to meet the ambitious technical and social goals of our clients.

Our Experience:

Cowichan District Hospital Replacement:

  • Canada’s first hospital to achieve CaGBC Zero Carbon Building Design Standard and British Columbia’s first fully electric hospital, setting a precedent for integrating environmental and social stewardship.
  • Delivered through an Alliance procurement model, the project aligns energy and sustainability goals with patient-centred healing environments, safety, and Indigenous representation

Co-operators Headquarters:

  • Incorporates sustainable technologies such as a rooftop solar array, high-efficiency water systems to enhance energy performance and occupant comfort.
  • Features an all-electric, energy-efficient design that eliminates on-site carbon emissions and significantly reduces indirect emissions.
  • Embodied carbon from construction materials will be reduced or offset – one of the many features which allowed the project to achieve Zero Carbon Building – Design Standard certification, despite an aggressive construction timeline.

Saint Hubert Airport Passenger Terminal (YHU):

  • Porter Aviation Holdings Inc., in partnership with Montréal Saint-Hubert Airport, developed a new terminal to serve 4 million+ passengers annually.
  • The new terminal is a net-zero carbon facility with all building systems to fully operate on electric power.
  • The terminal features a modern design aesthetic with natural light and high-quality materials and a state-of-the-art passenger and baggage processing and security installations

Creative Energy Steam Plant Decarbonization Project:

  • Creative Energy’s Beatty Plant underwent a major upgrade, replacing the existing gas plant with a new high-efficiency gas facility featuring advanced low-emission boilers, while maintaining uninterrupted service to 200 buildings during construction
  • HH Angus is leading the mechanical and electrical engineering for a new Low Carbon Steam Plant at the same site, which will feature electric boilers as part of Creative Energy’s low carbon strategy
