Laurie Hauer is the Interim Executive Director of the Newcomer Centre and has dedicated 37 years to supporting immigrants and newcomers. A social worker by education, she has worked across all levels of service—from frontline support to leadership—helping shape programs that empower newcomers to successfully integrate into their new communities. Throughout their career at the Newcomer Centre, Laurie has played a key role in designing and implementing innovative settlement programs that support newcomers in building successful futures. She has been a strong advocate for policies and initiatives that address systemic barriers, enhance employment opportunities, and promote social inclusion. Her leadership continues to drive meaningful change, ensuring that newcomers have access to the resources, support, and opportunities they need to thrive.
