Speaker Bio
Noella is the Educator & Trainer of the Training, Resource, and Education Centre (TREC) at Calgary Communities Against Sexual Abuse. Noella began her transition into the field of sexual violence education after serving as a teacher. During her time as a teacher, she observed how students had limited access to sexual violence information and were unaware of how to access systems of support. Her goal as an educator is to empower young people and others in their own communities and deliver trauma-informed, intersectional education on sexual violence. She is also currently helping to redevelop the ‘Who Do You Tell’ program. This program provides education to elementary-aged students on body autonomy, recognizing child sexual abuse, and identifying trusted adults. Her hope is to expand sexual violence education to all ages to break down underlying misconceptions and build stronger communities that challenge sexual violence. Noella holds a Bachelors of Science from the University of Victoria and a Bachelors of Education from McGill University.
