Preventing Child Sexual Abuse (CSA) requires more than individual awareness – it demands a coordinated, informed community response. This session introduces Who Do You Tell?TM, a research-based education program developed by Calgary Communities Against Sexual Abuse (CCASA) and delivered across Alberta since 1994.
Grounded in decades of evidence and practice, this session will begin by demystifying CSA through an overview of it’s definitions, prevalence, myths, and impacts – drawing from Alberta-specific stats and frameworks. From there, presenters will share how the Who Do You Tell?TM program equips children, professionals and caregivers with age-appropriate language, prevention skills, and confidence to talk about this sensitive topic.
Attendees will gain insight into the program's curriculum alignment and outcome evaluation – backed by decades of research by Dr. Leslie Tutty from the University of Calgary. The session will also explore how local programs, schools and community agencies can play an active role in building safer environments for children.
By highlighting a scalable model of prevention, this session aims to inspire communities to recognize CSA as the urgent issue that it is – and act on our shared responsibility to keep children safe.
