Derek has been working in education for 30 years. He taught high school math and science and then moved to a great opportunity to build an environment to support youth from diverse backgrounds. His focus has been on building resiliency within individuals, teams, and communities. He currently is the Chair of Teaching and Learning at Lakeland College. Derek and his wife reside outside of Vermilion with three horses and a variety of cats that wander through the yard.
