Ariel Feldman, P.Eng., LEED AP O+M is the Senior Director of Sustainability for Choice Properties REIT (Choice), a diversified real estate investment trust that owns, manages and develops retail, industrial, office and residential properties. Ariel joined Choice in 2017 and he and his team established and rapidly grew Choice’s leading Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) program. Under Ariel’s leadership, in 2021 Choice became one of the first Canadian companies to have their net-zero emissions targets validated by the Science Based Targets initiative’s (SBTi). These new targets will guide the REIT’s developments and operations in the coming decades and build on the progress that Choice has made towards achieving their environmental targets first set in 2019. Ariel also oversees annual ESG disclosures in line with the Task Force for Climate-related Financial Disclosures (TCFD), the UN Sustainable Development Goals (UN SDGs), and the Global Real Estate Sustainability Benchmark (GRESB). Ariel was named a 2022 Clean50 Emerging Leader for his work in developing and expanding Choice Properties REIT’s ESG program.
