Is volunteering in crisis — or simply evolving? To find answers to that question, Volunteer Alberta, together with their partners InWithForward and BGCBigs of Edmonton and Area, spent time in Lethbridge, Fairview, and Edmonton conducting ethnographic research to explore how everyday Albertans experience volunteering. The 17 ethnographies surfaced five opportunity areas and 15 ideas to test in order to reinvigorate volunteering.

In this session, participants will learn about the logic behind social design methods, find out about the dreams and values of the Albertans we met with, and start imagining alternative futures for contribution and volunteering.
