As Executive Director of Big Hill Haven, Wanda McGinnis has made it her mission to ensure that those fleeing domestic violence in the community have every support possible.

Since stepping into the role in 2023 as the organization’s first official executive director, McGinnis has helped strengthen programs, expand partnerships, and guide Big Hill Haven through a period of growth and impact.

She brings decades of experience in domestic violence mitigation and social work, holding dual degrees from the University of Regina and the University of Calgary. Over the course of her career, McGinnis has, in her words, “done it all”—from answering crisis calls on the frontlines to providing executive leadership.

Her depth of experience continues to shape Big Hill Haven’s vision and ensure that the organization is well-positioned to meet the evolving needs of the community.
