Dr. Crawford is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Molecular Virology and Microbiology at Baylor College of Medicine. She received her Ph.D. in 2013 under the supervision of Dr. Mary Estes at Baylor College of Medicine, USA. Her research program focuses on virus-host interactions to identify and understand the mechanisms by which viruses exploit host cellular pathways to facilitate virus replication and how this leads to pathogenesis. She uses diverse and cutting-edge technologies including human organoid models, new imaging techniques and structural biology to study rotaviruses, human noroviruses, hepatitis B virus and HIV. From the host side, her research program includes studies in lipid metabolism, autophagy, metabolomics, proteomics, calcium signaling, cell-to-cell crosstalk and development of antimicrobial compounds.
