Anastasia N. Vlasova is a virologist-immunologist and Associate Professor at the Ohio State University. She is affiliated with two OSU Departments and Colleges: Department of Veterinary Preventative Medicine (College of Veterinary Medicine) and Department of Animal Sciences (College of Food, Agricultural and Environmental Sciences.
Dr. Vlasova received her DVM degree from Moscow State Academy of Veterinary Sciences and Biotechnology, Moscow, Russia, in 2000 and her PhD degree from Ivanovsky Institute for Virology, Moscow, Russia in 2004. She completed her postdoctoral training at the Ohio State University (2005-2016).
Dr. Vlasova has conducted diverse studies on epidemiology, virology and immunology of viral infectious diseases of animals and humans for over 18 years. She has authored over 100 peer-reviewed manuscripts and book chapters. Her published works have been cited by others more than 4,840 times (H-index 40 by Google Scholar).
Dr. Vlasova’s work has been focused on studying the mechanisms of viral pathogenesis, innate immunity and interspecies (including zoonotic) transmission, particularly for human and animal coronaviruses and rotaviruses. She conducts comprehensive studies evaluating the effects of diet, microbiome/probiotics and rotavirus disease on the host health and immunity. Dr. Vlasova also conducts research on identification and characterization of emerging and re-emerging corona- and rotaviruses. Dr. Vlasova’s lab also studies the mechanisms of rotavirus cell attachment and entry mediated by host cell glycans.
