Megan Cole is a final year PhD student with both the Orbivirus research group, headed by Dr Karin Darpel, at The Pirbright Institute, UK, and the Hope Group, headed by Professor Jayne Hope, at The Roslin Institute, The University of Edinburgh, UK. Megan’s PhD is investigating how Bluetongue virus exploits interactions between bacteria, the insect vector and ruminant host to enhance Bluetongue virus infection. Previously Megan has investigated host parasite response in Malaria at The Rowe Lab, Ashworth Labs, Edinburgh UK, and investigating the immune response to the Quadrivalent Influenza vaccine in persons living with HIV using high-dimensional data analysis on multi-colour flow cytometry at Imperial College London, UK. Megan has a keen interest in host responses to infection as well as host responses to vaccines.
