Andrew Broadbent is an Assistant Professor of Virology in the Department of Animal and Avian Sciences at the University of Maryland, USA. He graduated with a degree in Veterinary Medicine and a PhD in Virology & Immunology, before conducting postdoctoral research at the NIH, and starting his own lab at The Pirbright Institute in the UK. His research focuses on avian viruses of economic importance to the poultry industry and to public health, including avian reovirus (ARV), and the avibirnavirus infectious bursal disease virus (IBDV).
