Paul Fast is an Architect and Principal at hcma architecture + design, specializing in recreation facility design. With a Masters of Architecture from UBC, Paul leads projects that range from children's playhouses to large recreation centres. He was the design leader for the precedent-setting təməsew̓txʷ Aquatic Centre, collaborating with the City of New Westminster and project team to deliver a ZCB Design and LEED Gold certified aquatic centre. Paul has extensive experience leading high-impact aquatic projects and a deep commitment to low-carbon, high-performance buildings. His knowledge has touched projects all over Canada but he has a certain affinity for pools that make a big impact on a small place. His work focuses on creating community spaces that promote social and environmental benefits. A frequent speaker at conferences such as TEDxWestVancouver, AIBC, Buildex Vancouver, and BCRPA, Paul addresses themes of community, placemaking, and sustainable design in recreation.
