Andrew Chintz develops and implements programs and projects for energy efficiency and clean energy with a focus on the affordable housing, community development, and the public sector markets. His approach benefits from a seasoned, 30-year career as a senior level municipal and real estate finance expert, including 24 years in diverse roles at MBIA, a municipal bond insurer. In addition to launching new financial products, Mr. Chintz’s experience ranges from originating and transacting new business to portfolio management for a wide range of programmatic and project financings for affordable housing including privatized military and student housing projects.
Mr. Chintz is currently the Financing Specialist for the NYC Accelerator, a technical assistance program sponsored by the Mayor's Office of Climate and Environmental Justice in New York City to support building owners in meeting the City’s climate action laws. Previously, he led Demand Aggregation for the New York State Energy Research and Development Authority's RetrofitNY initiative, which adapts the European “Energiesprong” model to drive a scalable, whole building approach for a net zero energy building solution using pre-fabricated building panels.
Mr. Chintz was instrumental in developing and launching New York State’s PACE program as a founding Board member of the Energy Improvement Corporation. He is active in several board and officer positions for non-profit and municipal community development organizations. Mr. Chintz received a B.A. from Connecticut College, an M.S. from Columbia University in historic preservation/urban planning, and a Certificate in Sustainability Finance from Columbia University.
