Julian Astbury is a Principal in Arup’s Toronto office with over 30 years of experience delivering high-performance, complex projects. A Chartered Engineer (CEng), LEED Accredited Professional, Certified Energy Manager (CEM), Accredited Tier Designer (ATD), and Certified Distributed Generation Manager (CDGM), he specializes in resilient, sustainable, and high-performance building design, with a particular focus on large-scale, complex laboratory projects.
Julian has led multidisciplinary teams across a wide range of building typologies, including commercial and academic laboratories, offices, industrial facilities, airports, government buildings, museums, and educational institutions. His expertise spans electrical engineering design, analysis, and construction, as well as renewable energy systems that help clients decarbonize their operations.
As a leader in Arup Canada’s multidisciplinary practice, Julian drives projects across Canada, the United States, and internationally.
