Session Information
The inaugural Embodied Carbon Summit at BLC 2024 sparked a wave of government interest in tackling embodied carbon in Canada’s built environment. This session brings together policymakers and industry experts from the City of Toronto, City of Vancouver, National Research Council of Canada, and Treasury Board of Canada Secretariat to share how gaps identified in the resulting white paper are being addressed.
Specifically, this session will explore harmonization efforts for whole-building life cycle assessment (wbLCA) frameworks, including highlights from the National wbLCA Practitioner’s Guide (June 2024) and the ECHO project. Our panelists will explore timing for the integration of embodied carbon regulations into model codes, the plan for filling research and data gaps, and opportunities for materials suppliers.
Join us to gain valuable insights into Canada’s unified efforts to reduce embodied carbon and prepare for the rapidly changing regulatory landscape.
