The new Good Grid Citizenship strategies in the Zero Carbon Building – Design Standard v4 acknowledges that reduced strain on the electrical grid can further decarbonization. At the building-level, peak prevention reduces costs from up front connection and operational demand charges.

This session dives into early examples of projects that have voluntarily chosen to implement the new Grid Citizenship Impact and Innovation Strategies from ZCB-Design and examples of new construction projects leveraging BC Hydro's Capacity-focused Demand-Side Management incentive programs, which align with the ZCB Strategies. Since the Grid Citizenship section is new in the ZCB-Design Standard, this session will help answer questions such as: Which strategies are most appealing to project teams and why? What are complementary utility incentive support options to increase uptake of these measures? What value do these Strategies and incentives add to projects?
