Catherine Van Alstine is a Managing Partner of Boyden in Vancouver, where she has taken on many leadership roles, including a three-year term on the Canadian Managing Board. Her ability to develop consensus amongst partners was utilized to build a national operating framework and collaboration model, which has been core to the company’s growth and its commitment to providing the highest level of client service.
She brings over 20 years of experience in executive search, starting as one of the four original partners of what is now a highly regarded international firm. She has gained a stellar reputation for her relentless commitment to providing expert advice and counsel, allowing her to gain a trusted advisor role with many long-term clients.
Catherine’s North American expertise board and all aspects of the C-Suite including CEO, COO, CFO, CHRO, and sales & marketing functions. Her industry experience spans industrial, natural resources, consumer products and distribution. Catherine has a particular focus on working with boards, private equity partners, looking to make organizational changes through strategic recruiting. Her extensive experience has provided Catherine with a broad understanding of the corporate environment and a thorough knowledge of contacts in the national and international marketplace.
Recognized locally and provincially for her commitment to her community, Catherine was a 2011 nominee for the Vancouver Women of Distinction, and recipient of the provincial government’s 2013 BC Community Achievement Award. She is Past Chair of the Board of Arts Umbrella, Chair of United Way of the Lower Mainland and Women in Philanthropy and serves as the Chair of the BC Advisory Board for Breakfast Clubs of Canada. At the provincial level, Catherine sat on the PavCo Board for six years where she served as Chair of the Audit and Finance Committee and, for her last three years, Board Chair. (PavCo is a BC Crown Corporation that operates the Vancouver Convention Centre, BC Place Stadium, Robson Media Center and Tradex.)
Catherine attended Queen’s University for her Bachelor of Commerce, an alma mater she has extensively supported.
