The housing and houselessness crisis in Alberta is a pressing concern that requires a comprehensive and collaborative approach to address it. The Rural Development Network (RDN) is a non-profit that supports communities in responding to their needs by developing tools and resources, providing capacity, training, and expertise, and leading advocacy to bring awareness and increased funding to rural areas. RDN also distributes the Federal government’s Reaching Home funding to rural and remote communities in Alberta. In this session, RDN will share strategies for data collection on housing and service needs, action-planning to implement solutions, building capacity for coordinated service delivery in smaller centers, and supporting the development of affordable housing. We will also share tools and resources we’ve developed in collaboration with communities, and ways in which RDN can work with your community or FCSS.
