Dr. Vivian Qian Liu is an assistant professor at Institute of Parasitology at McGill University since 2020. Her lab studies the entry and assembly of Nipah virus and SARS-CoV-2 by using single-molecule imaging technology. Dr. Liu obtained her Ph.D. degree with Dr. Hector Aguilar-Carreno (now at Cornell) in Infectious Diseases and Immunology at Washington State University in 2014. She did her postdoc with Dr. Keng Chou at the Department of Chemistry at UBC from 2016 to 2020, where she obtained skills on the development of super-resolution microscopy and image analysis. When not in the lab, Dr. Liu spends time with her 3-year-old boy in parks all around Montreal. Before her son was born, Dr. Liu enjoys cooking, swimming, and watching the Cartel TV shows.
