Explore steel reuse in construction with this interactive panel discussion, featuring experts from across the value-chain: a contractor and structural engineer both with experience in executing the country’s largest steel reuse program, and a policy-expert who is moving the needle for embodied carbon targets across the country. The discussion will share lessons learned from a structural engineer and contractor’s perspectives on employing steel reuse on Canada’s largest, most complex rehabilitation project: the Centre Block Project in Ottawa. Building from these lessons learned & technical reflection, the panel will explore the different policy incentives and how to design for steel reuse now, such are considerations for owners, architects, engineers and other stakeholders. The panel will be moderated by an architect, a role that will be key for advocating for material circularity. Audience participation will be encouraged!
