In this session, the Atmospheric Fund and partners will present results from new technologies on the market. The session will share how large air-to-water heat pumps can integrate with existing systems and demonstrate promising, first-of-their-kind results in a cold climate. The presentation includes in-depth approaches to heat pump deep retrofits in three multi-family and mixed-use buildings in Toronto, including Canada’s first large-scale residential air-to-water heat pumps. As archetypes, these buildings represent millions of similar buildings across Canada, and this session will answer questions and share insights that could be applied and replicated in retrofits across the country. Performance results will be shared from projects including Mitsubishi Climaveneta and Ark Heat air-to-water heat pump technologies, including a walk through of practical implementation scenarios. Highlights include pre- and post-retrofit data that demonstrate a strong case for decarbonization and energy savings. This is not a theoretical presentation; rather, this is a pragmatic session for project planners who are ready to roll their sleeves up and implement.
