                                                    Varsha Gill (she/her) is a textile artist, feminist filmmaker, and social-change oriented arts educator. She is a second-generation Indo-Canadian, born and raised on xʷməθkʷəy̓əm (Musqueam), Sḵwx̱wú7mesh (Squamish), and səl̓ilw̓ətaʔɬ (Tsleil-Waututh) territory, with family roots in northwestern India. Varsha is deeply passionate about community building and reimagining a world where people and land are good medicine for one another. She believes art is a place that holds many possibilities for social and environmental justice through its ability to connect people to the land and each other. Varsha holds a bachelor’s degree in Gender Studies and Media Arts from Quest University Canada, and is currently beginning a Masters of Social Work at the University of Victoria. To keep her spirit alive, Varsha runs a small sustainable textile business called @dyed smiling where she sells her naturally dyed and embroidered art.
