One component of the CWHC period poverty research used PhotoVoice as a research methodology. By using photographs taken and selected by participants, respondents can reflect upon and explore the reasons, emotions and experiences that have guided their chosen images. As part of a community exhibition, participants were invited to select a couple of images to display to share their stories about period poverty. The images are supported by words that share the reasons for selecting that image, what it means to the photographer, and how it relates to period poverty. The exhibition serves as an educational opportunity for policymakers, administrators, and others within the health care and social services systems. The exhibition is made up of approximately 25 posters, 16 x 20 in size, which will be printed on paper, and will need to be hung. Final decisions have not yet been made, but they may be mounted on foam core board.
