Jim is 45-year career forestry professional and industry analyst. With experience in consulting, pulp and paper fibre management, commercial banking and as an industry advocate with the Truck Loggers Association, Jim is not afraid to speak his mind.

With a degree in forestry and an MBA, Jim successfully forecasted the ultimate impacts that the mountain pine beetle and changes to provincial wood supply would have on the BC industry and more recently, how government policy may again negatively impact BC’s number one industry.

Jim was recognized as a Distinguished Forest Professional in 2020 for his work in this regard.

Jim’s book, If I Had Only Known, describing the early years of the BC forest industry was a four-week bestseller at the Friesen Press bookstore.
